Rensselaer hockey great Joe Juneau ’91 was inducted into the Rensselaer Athletics Hall of Fame on Saturday, Nov. 12. In addition to his induction, Juneau’s Rensselaer jersey number (#9) was raised to the Houston Field House rafters. He joins Adam Oates (#12) as the only players in the school’s Hockey Ring of Honor.

Juneau, who spent 12 years in the National Hockey League, was a standout player for Rensselaer. In 124 games he tallied 69 goals and 144 assists for 213 points. The team’s leading point producer in each of his four seasons, he is currently second in school history in career assists and fifth in points, and third and eighth in single-season assists.

A native of Pont-Rouge, Que., Juneau was a two-time National All-American and twice named a finalist for the prestigious Hobey Baker Award. Juneau was drafted by the Boston Bruins in the fourth round of the NHL Entry Draft and went on to have a successful professional career, scoring 572 points (156 goals, 416 assists) in 828 games for six teams.

During his return visit to campus, Juneau took part in the third annual Black Friday festivities Nov. 11. Black Friday marks the first home league game of the season. During the game, players wore special black jerseys that fans could bid on during the game. Juneau, who dropped the puck to start the Engineers vs. Quinnipiac game, also wore one of the special jerseys. The Engineers won, 4-2. In Saturday night's game, Rensselaer defeated Princeton, 4-1.
