Out & About: Rusty Pipes “How I Spent Winter Break” Annual Tour
During Rensselaer’s winter break, members of the Rusty Pipes
took some time out to hit the road for their annual winter
tour. The 14-member a cappella group performed in several Long
Island and Connecticut schools from Jan. 8-12.

“The annual Winter Tour is a time for the Pipes to sing at
numerous high schools, middle schools, and elementary schools,”
said Jason Ingraham, a senior majoring in engineering physics
and the group’s music director. “We bring our unique style of a
cappella to them, and often times it is the first time they’ve
heard anything like it. In addition, Winter Tour is a time for
the group members to bond with one another. This year we had an
extremely successful Winter Tour and it is something we will
all remember for the rest of our lives.”
Beyond the winter tour, members of the Rusty Pipes perform
at various campus and community events during the semester. The
group will be performing in the annual International
Competition of Collegiate A Cappella on Jan. 20, which will be
held at the University of Maine. Last year, the Rusty Pipes
participated in the Varsity Vocals International Competition of
Collegiate A Cappella and qualified as semi-finalists in the
annual competition. The Rusty Pipes were formed almost 10 years
ago by Adam Biegeleisen ’99, Elyse Shapiro ’99, and Sam Beroz
’99.
