Karen S. Long Appointed Acting Vice President for Enrollment Management

Ms. Karen S. Long has been appointed by President Shirley Ann Jackson as Acting Vice President for Enrollment Management, effective immediately. In this capacity, Karen will assume responsibility for leading student enrollment, admissions, and financial aid. Working closely with the President, Karen will develop short- and long-term enrollment strategies to continue the growth of applications and diversity of our student population.

Karen joined Rensselaer in 1988, first serving as an admissions counselor and coordinator of admissions for the B.S.-M.D. program offered in conjunction with Albany Medical College. Since then, she has been appointed to several positions including Associate Dean of Admissions, Acting Dean of Enrollment Management, and Director of Undergraduate Admissions.

Since her appointment as Director of Undergraduate Admissions, applications to Rensselaer have increased more than 300 percent. In addition, the academic quality and geographic diversity of incoming students has improved considerably.

Karen is a member of a number of state and national admissions organizations and has served on committees and panels related to undergraduate admissions.
