Statement from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute Regarding Brussels Attacks

Troy, N.Y. —  The thoughts of the entire Rensselaer community are with those suffering in the wake of the deadly attacks in Brussels, Belgium.

At this time, we are not aware of any member of the campus community traveling in or near Brussels. In addition, there are no students from Belgium enrolled at Rensselaer. We will continue to monitor this situation

Rensselaer is in contact with law enforcement officials at the federal, state and regional levels, and there are no specific threat alerts to share at this time. We will update the campus community should anything change. In an excess of caution, we have increased security on our Troy campus, and ask for patience, should anyone be inconvenienced by it.

After these tragic events, it is especially important that Rensselaer come together, as a family, and as a community characterized by tolerance, confidence in the future, and goodwill towards all.
