Tang Wins AVS Awards

Fu Tang, a graduate student in the department of Physics, Applied Physics, and Astronomy, has won the 2005 American Vacuum Society (AVS) graduate research award and the AVS Thin Film Division Award.

The graduate research award is given to recognize and encourage excellence in graduate studies in the sciences and technologies of interest to the AVS. The award consists of a $1,000 cash award, a certificate, and reimbursed travel support to attend the International Symposium.

The Thin Film Division Award is given to encourage and recognize excellence in thin film research. To be eligible, the student must be the presenter of a paper in the Thin Films Division Sessions at the AVS meeting. The prize is $500.
