The Society of Physics Students Named Outstanding Chapter
The Rensselaer chapter of the Society for Physics Students
(SPS) has been selected by the national society as an
Outstanding SPS Chapter for the 2004-05 academic year.
According to the commendation letter from the national SPS
office, less than 10 percent of SPS chapters nationwide have
been so honored.
The selection is based on the depth and breadth of SPS
activities conducted by the Rensselaer chapter in areas such as
physics research, public science outreach, physics tutoring
programs, hosting and representation at physics meetings, and
providing social interaction for chapter members.
Gyorgy Korniss, assistant professor of physics and faculty
adviser for the Rensselaer chapter, also was commended for his
leadership.
