RPI Grads everywhere at the American Astronomical Society Meeting in SeattleRensselaer

Astronomers hold two national meetings per year, where colleagues meet and we find out what is going on in all areas of astronomy at once. This year, it seemed that everywhere we looked there was an RPI graduate. We decided to organize an RPI grad dinner to a local brew pub for all who were available, where we exchanged stories of the past and present at Rensselaer .  Rensselaer has turned out quite a large number of successful astronomers!

The photo shows Rensselaer graduates on the steps of the Seattle Convention Center.  From left to right: David Leisawitz ’79, Dawn (Leeber) Gelino ’96, Tom Pannuti ’94, Erika Gibb ’01, Sachin Shenoy ’03 (top), Michael Egan ’87 (bottom), Heidi Newberg ’87, Anthony Milano ’07 (top), Roberta Paladini – who is a postdoc with Sean Carey ’88, Perry Gerakines ’93, Sean Carey ’88, Don Mizuno ’95.  RPI grads who were present but were not available for the picture include Saavik Ford, David Joiner, Isabel Ojalvo ’07, Ben Mohlie ’07, and Kristen Larson ’99.
