Rensselaer Technological Entrepreneurship Experts Traveling to China

Troy, N.Y. — A delegation of experts in technological entrepreneurship from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute will travel to China for symposia on innovation, entrepreneurship, and technology commercialization.

“We will gather with more than 250 business and government leaders in China — many of whom are Rensselaer alumni — to discuss innovation, entrepreneurship, and technology commercialization in a global context,” said David Gautschi, dean of the Lally School. “As we work to expand our reach around the globe, this forum will assist us in deepening our ties with technology leaders in China who are also focused on innovation and entrepreneurship.”

The symposia — on Innovation and Technology Commercialization in Global Context, will include speakers from government, business,and academe.  The discussions will focus on technology evolution, technology commercialization, developing technology parks, innovation in hi-tech industries, international technology incubators, technology start-up companies in a global context, and entrepreneurial activity in China. The programs will be held in Tianjin on March 1 and Beijing on March 4.  

Two senior executives from multi-national corporations will present case studies on their respective entrepreneurial projects.  Chinese government officials in charge of innovation and entrepreneurship and Chinese entrepreneurs will discuss their experiences. 

The Rensselaer delegation includes Dean Gautschi, Vice Provost for Entrepreneurship Robert A. Chernow, Incubator Director Michael Tentnowski, Associate professor at the Lally School Michael Ensley, and Director of International Advancement Dawn Chen.

The symposia are jointly organized and sponsored by Rensselaer’s Lally School of Management and Technology, the Tianjin Municipal Science and Technology Commission, and the Administrative Commission of Tianjin Hi-Tech Industrial Park in China.
