Troy, N.Y. — Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute President Shirley Ann Jackson issued the following statement today in response to the announcement by U.S. Representative Sherwood Boehlert (R-New Hartford), Chair of the House Science Committee, that he will not seek re-election this fall

“Congressman Boehlert has had a long and distinguished career in public service. His has been a powerful voice for science in America. He has helped lead us to a national discussion on innovation initiatives and we can only hope that he will continue to lend his voice to this critical agenda. For his untiring commitment to the pursuit of excellence in science on behalf of the nation, we thank him and wish him well.”
