Troy, N.Y. — The Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute community is saddened by the loss of University at Albany President Kermit Hall. Following is a statement by President Shirley Ann Jackson on his passing:

“Kermit Hall was a leader, a scholar, and a new friend. Though his time here at the University at Albany was sadly all too brief, his contributions will have a lasting impact on the Capital Region. This is a great tragedy for UAlbany and for all of us in higher education. He was just getting started. We will miss him terribly. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends, and all in the SUNY community at this difficult time.”
