Kelli Hudson, currently controller and acting vice president for finance and administration at Iona College in New Rochelle, will join Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute as assistant vice president and controller on Sept. 7.

In her new role, Hudson will serve as a key member of the senior finance team and be responsible for providing overall leadership for accounting services, financial reporting, disbursements, systems, and operations. She will report to Rensselaer Vice President for Finance and Chief Financial Officer Virginia Gregg.

“Having served in leadership roles in finance, administration, and student financial services at her previous institution, Ms. Hudson brings an unusually broad range of experience to her new position,” said Gregg. “I am very pleased she has decided to join us.”

Hudson joined Iona in 2001 in the controller’s role, and assumed responsibility for student financial services in 2005, handling both sets of responsibilities until she was asked to serve as acting vice president for finance in May, 2009.

At Iona, she took on broader responsibility beyond finance, serving as the architect of the Student Financial Services office, and worked closely with Information Technology to implement a range of technology-based process improvements. For much of the last year, she has served in the acting vice president’s role, which has allowed her to interact with college leadership and serve on the President’s Cabinet. At Iona, Hudson also supervised the budget director, human resources, and business services.

Hudson earned her bachelor of science degree in accounting from Siena College. She completed her master’s in finance from Iona College in May, 2010.
