Industry veteran Larry Chambers will join Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute as the director of financial aid, effective September 1.
As director of financial aid at Rensselaer, Chambers will be responsible for directing all aspects of the financial aid operation, ensuring students receive their awards in a timely manner and that distribution is in compliance with federal and state regulations. He will work closely with campus leaders to ensure the Institute provides optimal financial aid packages for students, while adhering to the university’s guidelines and long-term strategic objectives.
“Larry is an extremely talented professional with an impressive track record of overseeing and implementing smart, effective, and successful financial aid strategies,” said Paul Marthers, vice president for enrollment at Rensselaer. “The Institute will benefit from the wealth and depth of his experience, and our students will benefit from his skillful handling of financial aid packages and policy.”
Chambers joins Rensselaer from Ithaca College, where he served as director of student financial services for the past 15 years. In this role, he planned, directed, and managed state, federal, and college financial aid programs, student account services, and financial services for students and families.
A leader in the field of financial aid, Chambers has served as a member of the board of directors of the National Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators (NASFAA) since 2006. He was recently elected president and treasurer of the Eastern Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators (EASFAA), and is the recipient of two prestigious EASFAA awards, the President’s Service to the Association Award and the Leadership Award.
Chambers received his bachelor’s degree in communications from the State University of New York College at Buffalo, and earned his master’s degree in education from Niagara University.
