EVENT: Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute is hosting a free
Family Technology Awareness Day in honor of Black Family
Technology Awareness Week to encourage all community families
to participate in the fast-moving world of technology.
Some of the day's activities include a virtual trading room, a
demonstration of the automatic double Dutch jump rope machine
by student inventor Tahira Reid '00, exhibits from the Junior
Museum, and a demonstration of African fractals-the geometry of
similar shapes repeated on ever-shrinking scales. Fractal
geometry is apparent everywhere in Africa from hairstyles to
religious practices.
Parking is in the Visitor's Lot on 15th Street. Student
Ambassadors will lead groups from the Student Union to
activities around campus.
