ALSETLab Hosts Ukrainian Delegation To Share Research on Electrical Power Systems

Luigi Vanfretti, professor of electrical, computer, and systems engineering, and his research scientist Tetiana Bogodorova recently hosted a delegation of high-level Ukrainian energy regulatory representatives and industry members to share their current research on electrical power systems and to establish possible collaborations.

RPI Honors Graduating ROTC Participants

Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) offers Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (ROTC) programs in the Army, Navy, and Air Force for students interested in commissions as officers in the U.S. military following graduation. Each year, the programs collectively host the Joint Services Award Ceremony to recognize ROTC participants graduating from RPI and beginning their military careers.

Students Bring Home Top Honors in National Cybersecurity Competition

Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) individual students as well as teams did very well in the recent National Cyber League (NCL) Competition, a biannual event that enables students to prepare and test themselves against practical cybersecurity challenges that they will likely face in the workforce, such as identifying hackers from forensic data, pen testing and auditing vulnerable websites, recovering from ransomware attacks, and additional cyber skill sets.

Troy Redevelopment Foundation Funds Community Projects

Thanks to the Troy Redevelopment Foundation, a variety of projects that benefit the community are underway or completed. Established in 1995, the Troy Redevelopment Foundation (TRF) is a voluntary consortium of not-for-profit institutions in the City of Troy, including Emma Willard, St. Peter’s Health Partners (SPHP), Russell Sage College, and Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI).

Rensselaer Math Students Shine in International Modeling Contest

The Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) team of Calvin Ang ’24,  Haoran Bao ’25, and Caleb Smith ’25 received a Finalist designation for their paper the Mathematical and Interdisciplinary Contest in Modeling! This means that their paper was judged among the top 99 out of 2,557 teams competing on their problem. 

Rensselaer Graduates Recognized for Resilience, Perseverance at 217th Commencement

Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute President Martin A. Schmidt ’81 presided over the 217th Commencement Ceremony, his first as president. During the ceremony, which was held at the East Campus Athletic Village, Rensselaer awarded a total of 1,988 degrees — 152 doctoral degrees, 390 master’s degrees, and 1,446 bachelor’s degrees — to 1,957 students, some of whom earned multiple degrees. Approximately 1,500 students attended the ceremony.

Undergraduate Students Present Their Research

Recently, more than 30 undergraduate students from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute gathered at the Center for Biotechnology and Interdisciplinary Studies to share their findings with the community.
