Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute will host the Hudson Valley FIRST® LEGO® League Championship from  8:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.on Saturday, February 10, 2024 at Darrin Communications Center 308. FIRST® LEGO® League Challenge is for children ages 9 to 14.  Since the beginning of the school year, the teams have been building programming LEGO® robots and conducting a research project to identify and solve a real-world problem related to an annual theme. This year, the teams are imagining and innovating new ways to communicate art across the globe. Founded in 1989 by inventor Dean Kamen, FIRST® is a global nonprofit organization that prepares young people for the future through a suite of life-changing youth robotics programs that build skills, confidence, and resilience.

The teams have earned their slot to the area championship at qualifier events. This event covers teams from Yonkers to Saratoga County. There will be 24 teams with up to 10 students per team. 500 people are expected to attend. RPI students from the Engineering Ambassadors, Robotics Club, and The Forge will assist with the event.
