Joey Morse ’24 has recently launched an exhibition that explores train travel in the Capital Region from the 1830s to the present at the Albany-Rensselaer Joseph L. Bruno Rail Station.

Morse, a recent graduate of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute’s School of Architecture, designed a series of 16 posters that chronicle the development of local railways beginning with the steam locomotives of the Troy, Ballston, and Saratoga Line and chuffing along through the decades to today’s Amtrak routes.

Sara Tack, a senior lecturer in the School of Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences’ Communications and Media program, provided art direction after being approached by Brendan Kennedy of the Hart Cluett Museum about a possible collaboration with RPI.

The exhibition’s opening reception on Tuesday, June 11, was attended by local dignitaries including New York State Assemblyman John McDonald of the 108th District and Carm Basile, the chief executive officer of the Capital District Transportation Authority, which owns and operates the station, one of the busiest in the country.

The exhibition is open and ongoing. For pictures of the exhibition and the opening ceremony, see the stories on the event from WAMC and WNYT.
