Minoru Tomozawa To Deliver Prestigious American Ceramic Society Lecture

Minoru Tomozawa, professor of materials science
and engineering, will deliver the American Ceramic Society’s 2019 Edward Orton
Jr. Memorial Lecture. This lecture has been delivered each year since 1933, and
is named after the founder of the American Ceramic Society. Those nominated,
and chosen, have gained national recognition in their field.

Tomozawa will present his lecture at the Materials Science & Technology Conference and Exhibition, which will be held in Portland, Oregon, September 29 - October 3, 2019.

He is a fellow of the American Ceramic Society, has served as the chair of the Glass and Optical Materials Division of the American Ceramic Society, and his research in the area of glass science has been published extensively. One of his current graduate students recently received the Norbert J. Kreidl Award for Young Scholars, recognizing research excellence in glass science.
