On the inaugural episode of Why Not Change the World? The RPI Podcast, an artificial intelligence expert and an accomplished musician consider how humans could and should responsibly deploy new technologies like AI.
“This really is a crucial thing for the current generation,” said Jim Hendler, the Tetherless World Professor of Computer, Web, and Cognitive Sciences at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. “This is the technology that’s going to be changing the world over the next 20 to 30 years when they’re out either creating it or living with it.”
Mary Simoni, the dean of the School of Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences at Rensselaer, also joined the conversation, emphasizing the need to “try to minimize the ill effect of any technology.”
