In the latest episode of Why Not Change the World? The RPI Podcast, leading experts in lighting and bone health reveal how their research tackles Alzheimer’s disease in new and unexpected ways.

Launched in the fall of 2019, Why Not Change the World? brings together researchers and other leaders who are working to address similar issues from different angles. In each episode, two guests sit down for a conversation with a member of the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute media relations team.

Mariana Figueiro, the director of the Lighting Research Center at Rensselaer, and Deepak Vashishth, the director of the Center for Biotechnology and Interdisciplinary Studies at Rensselaer, explore how her work in lighting and his examination of bone health are both leading to important advances in the treatment of a disease that affects more than five million Americans.

This is the first episode of the second season of Why Not Change the World? For eight weeks, a new episode will be released each week, covering topics ranging from supercomputers to the opioid epidemic.
