Two scientists describe the extreme conditions in which life can be found and what that reveals about the origins of Earth in the newest episode of Why Not Change the World? The RPI Podcast.
As the director of the Rensselaer Astrobiology Research and Education (RARE) Center, Karyn Rogers works to determine which extreme planetary environments can host life, and which cannot. She had recently returned from an expedition related to this effort when she sat down to record the episode, which was taped before the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Curt Breneman, the dean of the School of Science at Rensselaer, joined Rogers for a fascinating conversation about what she was looking for — and what it might tell us about life on Earth and elsewhere.
