School of Science Faculty Honored for Dedicated Service

The Institute honored four faculty within the School of Science for their dedicated years of service as part of the 2020 Institute Awards.

“I am proud to be associated with these dedicated and accomplished faculty members,” said Curt Breneman, dean of the School of Science. “Their innovations in teaching have motivated and educated many excellent students, and they have brought international recognition to our research programs while elevating Rensselaer to where we are today.”

David Isaacson, professor of mathematical sciences, was honored for 40 years of service.

Three professors were honored for 35 years of service:

Sandra Nierzwicki-Bauer, professor of biological sciences and the associate director of the Darrin Fresh Water Institute.

Frank Spear, professor and head of the Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences, and the Edward P. Hamilton Distinguished Educator.

Boleslaw Szymanski, professor of computer science, director of the Network Science and Technology Center, and the Claire and Roland Schmitt Distinguished Professor.
