A new safety app that will enhance security and reporting on the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute campus is now available, and the Department of Public Safety encourages all members of the campus community to download it.

The Everbridge Mobile App is a free, opt-in personal safety app for any member of the RPI community with a valid RIN. Using the app, a user’s smartphone becomes a personal safety device, allowing them to quickly contact Public Safety in cases of an emergency or to use the app to report tips related to criminal or suspicious activity.

The Everbridge Mobile App is an extension of the new RPI Alert system, which was upgraded last year. Rensselaer community members can use the app even if they do not subscribe to RPI Alert, which is a robust and comprehensive safety communication system used to provide rapid safety notifications and instructions to campus constituents.

For more information about the app, including how to download it, campus community members should visit this website.

The Everbridge Safety app is designed to enhance personal safety, however, everyone is encouraged to dial 911 or the Department of Public Safety at (518) 276-6611 whenever it is possible in any emergency situation.  Additionally, requests and reports can still be made through the Public Safety website.
