Dr. José Holguín-Veras Receives Honorary Doctorate

Dr. José Holguín-Veras, the William H. Hart Professor and Director of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute’s Center for Infrastructure, Transportation, and the Environment (CITE), has received an Honorary Doctorate in Engineering from Universidad del Valle in Cali, Colombia. He is the recipient of numerous awards, including the 2013 White House Transportation Champion of Change Award, and the 1996 Milton Pikarsky Memorial Award. His research on freight transportation modeling and planning and disaster response logistics has been extremely influential. He received his Ph.D. from the University of Texas at Austin in 1996; a M.Sc. from the Universidad Central de Venezuela in 1984; and a B.Sc. from the Universidad Autónoma de Santo Domingo in 1982.
