The Rensselaer Cybersecurity Collaboratory, the cybersecurity lab at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI), was ranked #1 in the nation in the fall 2023 Cyber Power Rankings out of more than 500 colleges and universities throughout the nation.

The rankings, created by the cloud platform Cyber Skyline in partnership with the National Cyber League (NCL), “represent the ability of students from these schools to perform real-world cybersecurity tasks on the Cyber Skyline platform.” The rankings are based on the performance of students in the biannual NCL competition, which gives students an opportunity to practice their cybersecurity skills. 

“Our success demonstrates that Information Technology and Web Science (ITWS) at RPI is a top place to engage in real-world practical applications of the latest theory and knowledge in cybersecurity,” said Brian Callahan, Ph.D., graduate program director of ITWS and director of the Rensselaer Cybersecurity Collaboratory. “Our students are prepared to lead the next generation of cybersecurity professionals and take on the largest challenges of the 21st century.”

The Rensselaer Cybersecurity Collaboratory gives RPI students the opportunity to learn cybersecurity through coursework, research, and service to the campus community.
