The latest episode of Why Not Change the World? The RPI Podcast features excerpts from three lectures that were part of the Engineering the Anthropocene speaker series held at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.

The lecture series, a collaboration between the School of Engineering and the School of Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences at Rensselaer that began in 2019, examined the effects of human activity on climate, the changing climate’s impact on humans, and the actions needed to address such a complex issue.

Among the diverse roster of speakers were Sachem HawkStorm, the chief of the Schaghticoke First Nations; Kari Marie Norgaard, a professor of sociology at the University of Oregon; and Tona Rodriguez-Nikl, an associate professor of civil engineering at Cal State Los Angeles. In this episode, these three distinct voices provide valuable perspective on issues regarding the impacts of — and potential responses to — the changing climate.

The Engineering the Anthropocene lecture series was co-sponsored by Civil and Environmental Engineering and Science and Technology Studies, with support from the Vasudha Living & Learning Community and the Vollmer Fries Fund.
