From 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. on Saturday, October 28, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute will host the Boston Regional Inorganic Colloquium (BRIC) at the Shirley Ann Jackson, Ph.D. Center for Biotechnology and Interdisciplinary Studies. The first BRIC was held in 2004 to connect inorganic chemists in academia and industry and to promote community and collaboration. BRIC has since expanded beyond Boston to include all of New England.

The event at Rensselaer includes sessions by Gary Brudvig, Ph.D., professor of molecular biophysics and biochemistry and director of the Yale Energy Sciences Institute at Yale University, and Victor Batista, Ph.D., member of the Yale faculty and of the Yale Quantum Institute & Energy Sciences Institute, on natural and artificial water oxidation.

In addition, Mark Porosoff, Ph.D., assistant professor of chemical engineering at University of Rochester, and Joseph DuChene, Ph.D., assistant professor of chemistry at University of Massachusetts Amherst, will lead sessions on carbon dioxide reduction.

Posters on a variety of topics will be presented by students from universities across the region, including Rensselaer.
