Annual Rensselaer Office of Entrepreneurship Competition Highlights Student Creativity and Draws Technology, Social, and Business Ideas From Across Campus A system to increase intravenous therapy,  a breakthrough in detecting bacteria in water, an innovation that prevents disease and creates jobs and cogeneration water purification for China are just a few of the winning ideas in the Fall 2011 Change the World Challenge at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.

Nov. 29 Lecture Draws Links Between Familiar Art and Contemporary Electronic Art

Discussion by Rensselaer Professor Michael Century offers an introduction for general audiences. A new lecture series traces the path between contemporary electronic art and more established media arts. Michael Century, professor of new media and music in the Arts Department at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, will speak on “From Virtuality to Virtuosity” on Nov. 29, from noon – 1 p.m. in the Curtis R. Priem Experimental Media and Performing Arts Center (EMPAC) Theater. The event is free and open to the public.

Latin American Student Luminaire Design Competition Announced

Competition Administered at Rensselaer Promotes Effective and Sustainable Use of Outdoor Lighting in Public Urban Areas The Lighting Research Center at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute is administering a Latin American Student Luminaire Design Competition sponsored by the AES Corporation and Philips Lighting. The objective of the competition is to promote the effective and sustainable use of outdoor lighting in public urban areas throughout Mexico, Central America, South America, and the Caribbean.
