Tailored Light Improves Quality of Life for Older Adults With Alzheimer’s Disease

In a research project funded by the National Institute on Aging (NIA), Mariana Figueiro, a professor and the director of the Lighting Research Center (LRC) at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, is investigating whether a tailored lighting intervention can lessen the impact of symptoms in older adults living with Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias (ADRD).

Some Online Shoppers Willing to Try New Systems, But Wary of Workplace Delivery

TROY, N.Y. — Cardboard boxes being delivered to homes and businesses — one, two, even three packages at a time — are as ubiquitous as holiday lights this time of year. While most people enjoy giving and receiving gifts throughout the season, there’s increasing concern over the rise in congestion, emissions, and energy consumption associated with an influx of deliveries. A new survey conducted by a research team at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute indicates that some online shoppers are open to receiving packages in another way, if it would help offset this growing problem.

Working With City of Troy, Rensselaer Successfully Refunds Bonds

Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, in conjunction with the City of Troy Capital Resource Corporation (CRC) as conduit issuer, successfully priced $261,165,000 2020A Series tax-exempt bonds on November 20, 2019.  Proceeds will be utilized to refund the Institute’s $311,630,000 2010A Series tax-exempt bonds.  The transaction is expected to close on June 3, 2020.

FIRST LEGO League Robotics Qualifying Tournament to Be Held at Rensselaer

Elementary and middle school students from around the region will compete in the annual Hudson Valley FIRST LEGO League Qualifying Tournament on the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute campus on Saturday, Dec. 14. This is the 12th year that Rensselaer has served as the host facility for this regional competition, which is open to students aged 9-14 years old.
