Rensselaer Announces Innovative New Degree in Business Analytics

A new undergraduate degree program in business analytics is coming to Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute this year. The major, approved by the New York State Education Department last month, will be offered through the Lally School of Management beginning in the fall semester of 2019. The new program will equip students with a unique combination of data science skills and fundamental business skills as they enter the workforce.

Researchers Pioneer Microfluidics-Enabled Manufacturing of Macroscopic Graphene Fibers

A team of researchers at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute has developed a new microfluidics-assisted technique for developing high-performance macroscopic graphene fibers. Graphene fiber, a recently discovered member of the carbon fiber family, has potential applications in diverse technological areas, from energy storage, electronics and optics, electro-magnetics, thermal conductor and thermal management, to structural applications.

Rensselaer Trustee Named to National Inventors Hall of Fame

Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute Board of Trustees member Jeffrey L. Kodosky, a member of the Rensselaer Class of 1970, has been named to the National Inventors Hall of Fame (NIHF). The announcement was made Jan. 8 at the CES 2019 annual conference in Las Vegas.

Rensselaer President’s Annual Holiday Concert To Take Place Dec. 16

The 2018 President’s Holiday Concert at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute will take place on Sunday, December 16, at 3 p.m. in the Concert Hall of the Curtis R. Priem Experimental Media and Performing Arts Center (EMPAC) on campus. The event is free, open to the public, and will be followed by a reception. RSVPs are requested online here.

Rensselaer and Hudson Valley FLL To Host FIRST LEGO League Robotics Tournament

What does it take to live on a space station or travel to another planet? That’s what 12 elementary and middle school afterschool LEGO Robotics teams from the Capital Region have been working together to figure out. They’ll take part in the annual Hudson Valley FIRST LEGO League Regional Qualifying Tournament at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute on Saturday, Dec. 15.
