Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute once again ranks among the best universities in the United States, according to the annual list of college rankings released this week by U.S. News & World Report.

Rensselaer alumni and Pi Kappa Alpha brothers, John Delbridge ’91, Jeffrey Stewart ’91, and David Uyttendaele ’91 have been selected as the 2014 William F. Glaser ’53 Rensselaer Entrepreneurs of the Year.

Starting classes, meeting peers, and exploring a new geographical area all at once may seem intimidating for many first-year students making the transition to college and campus life. But, it’s not like that for incoming first year students at Rensselaer.

The fall semester is in full swing and members of the Rensselaer Class of 2018 have already completed their first week of classes. The 1,334 first-year students promise to be an exceptional group.

On May 23, 2014, President Shirley Ann Jackson, and the 2014 Commencement Honorary Degree recipients came together to discuss “Creating Clarity in Complexity To Enable Transformational Change.” Watch the broadcast, in its entirety, on WMHT, World Channel (cable channel 1276): Saturday, September 13 at 7:30 p.m.; Sunday, September 14 at 2 p.m.; Wednesday, September 17 at 11:30 p.m.

Advanced materials leader Robert Hull has been named the first director of the Institute’s new Center for Materials, Devices, and Integrated Systems (cMDIS).

Graig R. Eastin, vice president of the CHOC Children’s Hospital Foundation, has been named vice president for institute advancement at Rensselaer by President Shirley Ann Jackson.

The Center for Biotechnology and Interdisciplinary Studies (CBIS) will celebrate its 10th anniversary with a symposium on the intersection of engineering, biomedicine, and healthcare on Sept. 10.

Nestled in the heart of the campus is a permanent exhibit of National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) memorabilia and other materials that honor the life of former Rensselaer President George M. Low ’48.

The annual Greeting at the Approach will take place from 3:15 to 4:15 p.m. at the 8th Street Approach. As a special highlight of the event, Rensselaer President Shirley Ann Jackson will also greet and shake hands with each member of the Class of 2018.
