Air taxi designed for passengers with reduced mobility A team of Rensselaer graduate students recently took home the top honors at the 39th Annual Student Design Competition of the Vertical Flight Society (VFS) for their “Oliwhoper,” an air taxi designed for passengers with reduced mobility (PRM).

Talk Without Borders is an enrichment program, sponsored by the Mueller Center at Rensselaer, that brings together students of all nationalities for volunteer projects that celebrate diversity.
Dr. Juergen Hahn, Professor and Department Head for Biomedical Engineering at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, has been elected leader of the Biomedical Engineering Society’s (BMES) Council of Chairs for 2023. BMES consists of the department heads/department chairs of all BME departments across the nation. This appointment follows Dr. Hahn being named a BMES Fellow in early September.
Dr. Yinan Wang, Assistant Professor in the Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, has been selected as a Panel Fellow in the 2023 cohort of the National Science Foundation (NSF) Division of CMMI Game Changer Academies for Advancing Research Innovation (CGCA). The annual program hosted by the NSF aims to improve group dynamics during panel discussions, increase awareness of bias and identity, and enhance understanding of high-risk, high-reward ideas.
Dr. José Holguín-Veras, the William H. Hart Professor and Director of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute’s Center for Infrastructure, Transportation, and the Environment (CITE), has received an Honorary Doctorate in Engineering from Universidad del Valle in Cali, Colombia.
